Pineridge Press was established in 2026 to publish Southern voices and preserve the stories, history, and culture of the South.
The press publishes Southern-themed nonfiction, fiction, and histories. Its purpose is to give serious regional work a thoughtful literary presentation while helping worthwhile Southern stories reach readers in a professional, lasting form.
Pineridge Press also exists to make the publishing process more approachable for independent Southern authors, local historians, and first-time writers. Many writers have strong projects but do not know how to move from a manuscript to a finished book; the press offers clear guidance through the practical steps of preparing, producing, and presenting that work.
That support is especially important for authors working outside the traditional publishing world: people who know their communities, have spent years on research, or carry a story worth preserving but need a trusted path toward publication.

Hart Mizell
Hart Mizell founded Pineridge Press to bring carefully made Southern books to readers and to help other writers bring their own work into print.
As an author, historian, and teacher, he understands both the demands of research and the practical questions that can stand between a completed manuscript and publication. He has seen how easily a strong manuscript can stall when its author is unsure how to edit, design, print, distribute, or introduce it to readers.
His work with the press is guided by a simple belief: local history, family history, fiction, and nonfiction rooted in the South deserve professional care. Each project should retain the character of its subject while receiving the attention to editing, design, and presentation that lets it stand confidently beside any book.
Hart welcomes conversations with authors and historians who have a meaningful project and need help navigating the publishing process. Pineridge Press is especially interested in work by smaller Southern authors whose research, experience, and stories deserve a clear path into print.
